Since2004, M. Gill & Associates, Inc. has been the Publicist under contract with the Jamaica USA Chamber of Commerce. This entails developing and implementing the chamber’s annual public relations program and activities, as approved by the chamber’s board of directors. Activities include: Membership database upkeep and management, planning and coordination of member benefit events such as business seminars, and membership networking mixers.
As the Chamber’s Publicist, M. Gill & Associates also coordinates and implements the Annual Recognition & Instillation Luncheon and the biennial Jamaican Business Expo in South Florida with exhibitors from across North America and the Caribbean. As Publicist we also assist the Jamaican Consulate to plan and coordinate VIP for Jamaican Heads of State visits to South Florida; we write and disseminate the quarterly NewsBites Newsletter to the membership; and carry out various other media relations services including: press releases, press briefing, public service announcements and media buying.
Jamaica USA Chamber of Commerce hosts an annual Recognition and Awards Luncheon which we combined with our annual MEDWeek Business Matchmaker Conference as one event in 2015.
M. Gill & Associates, Inc. served as the Section 3 and W/MBE Consultant to the Developers of the Scott Carver Hope VI Redevelopment Project, located in the Liberty City community of Miami-Dade County. The county selected the development firm of McCormack Baron Salazar, Inc. (MBS) as the designated developer of the Scott Carver Hope VI site. Fort Lauderdale-based Reliance Housing Foundation, Inc. (Reliance) was MBS’s Co-Developer on this project. The Revitalization Plan called for the redevelopment of the former public housing sites known as Scott and Carver homes, it included the construction of up to 354 mixed-income rental housing units, one or more community facilities, and new public infrastructure to support the new housing.
The Scott Carver Hope VI Redevelopment, a Section 3 covered activity, was monitored by the Miami-Dade Public Housing Authority and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). M. Gill & Associates (itself a Section 3 Certified firm) was entrusted with facilitating business and employment opportunities to minority and women-owned businesses, former residents of Scott and Carver Homes and the expanded Hope VI area to ensure compliance with the Section 3 and W/MBE goals and requirements set forth with this project. As a result, technical assistance was provided free of charge to construction-related businesses that were interested in participating on the Scott Carver Hope VI Redevelopment Project.
